uni grows on you.
My husband Roger, and I came to Zuni twenty-three years ago, with the intention of
staying one year.
I understand my grandparents' desire to always return. The special relationships my
grandparents and relatives had with the Zunis, we have also shared. [For us] living here,
Zuni truly becomes "Itiwanna" - the middle place, or "Hapadina" - the
center of the world.
You will find no village secrets [in this book]; it has not been my intention to describe
Zuni, Zuni dances, religion, or lifestyle. I would suggest additional reading in those
areas such as: "A Zuni Atlas" by T.J. Ferguson & Richard Hart" [and
other such books].
My family was "Anglo". I was tempted many times to note how things have changed
[here] or stayed the same, but I have refrained from inserting my own thoughts into the
story of my family.
