("Hello" in the Zuni Language)
Neighbors, Fellow Community Members and Visitors!

At last.... The NEW

Multipurpose Ministry center for Youth, Adults and Special Community Events!

is completed and in operation: the Dedication-Open House took place at Zuni Christian Reformed Church & Mission School on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th, 1999.
For information about the New Center, call 505.782.5649

The Ministry Center, located close to the Inn is an elegant addition to our neighborhood! Spacious, well appointed area for youth activities under the dedicated guidance of Wil SECIWA, coordinator of the Upward Vision program.
The Center's inviting entrance! Daren Wallace in the Youth Room
The Ministry Center is being used for "Morning Devotions, Guitar Club, High School Night, (etc...)" "Welcome to the Zuni Christian Reformed Church. We are glad you are here to celebrate with us this significant event in the life of our Congregation - the Dedication of the A:shiwi Vander Wagen Ministry Center. Just two years ago, on October 12th, 1997, we celebrated our 100th Anniversary. It was almost 100 years ago to the day that Andrew & Effa Vander Wagen arrived in Zuni to begin the Ministry of the Christian reformed Church, creating, according to Andrew, "considerable excitement in the village of Zuni [...] because two young missionaries - 'tutaches' as they were called - had arrived."

Greeting from Zuni Christian Mission School Students; they have "really enjoyed (the Center) already!"

Great financial resources have been generously committed to this project from our community and from across the nation. The impetus for starting this venture came from a large gift from Dr. John (Vander Wagen) Wagner and from the early inspired decision of contractor Rick Murphy (Andrew & Effa's great grandson ) to oversee the project on a non-profit basis. About 300 people from all walks of a life have contributed. Former Zuni Tribe Councilman Harry Chimoni served as liason to the Council and various committees & agencies paved the way to see this Center completed. It is now a precious new resource for the Church and the whole Community.
The BELL illustrated here stands right above the Ministry Center's main entrance...

A fine group of speakers; Mr. Vernon Wiering earlier accepted the Keys to the building from builder Rick Murphy.

Richard is the son of Gertrude Vander Wagen Wall, youngest daughter of Andrew and Effa. A large assembly of Church members and assorted friends and sponsors attended the Dedication.

Richard Dodson (grandson of Andrew & Effa) to Pastor Mike Meekhof & the Congregation: "Andrew and Effa would be proud of all you have done with this Church".
